What We Believe
At the Connecticut Center for School Change, the belief that system success equals student success is at the core of every action we take. We acknowledge a mutual responsibility between the school systems we partner with and our own organization to achieve such success.
To improve achievement for all students, school systems must work systemically and:
- focus on the instructional core—curriculum rigor, teacher knowledge and skill, and student engagement with learning
- develop and exercise leadership that promotes adult and student learning
- collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- engage in continuous improvement
- plan for sustainability
- hold all staff members accountable for improved student outcomes
To support and improve the work of Connecticut’s school systems, the Center must:
- assist public school districts in focusing on instruction and redesigning/aligning their systems with instruction at the core
- help districts develop the capacity of their professionals as instructional and organizational leaders
